Booking and prices
How much do the tours cost?
$79 per person for a full day, including return transport from Surfers Paradise and a local guide. Do both tours for $149.
Which days do the tours run?
Rainforest runs Mondays and Wednesdays, Outback runs Tuesdays and Thursdays.
How do I book?
Book online in a couple of minutes. Use the Book now buttons on this site, or go straight to the booking page for the Rainforest tour, the Outback tour, or both tours. You can also ask at the front desk of your hostel in Surfers Paradise.
Who are the tours for?
Our tours are made for adventurers, backpackers and solo travellers who want to really experience the Gold Coast hinterland, not just sit on a bus. You'll get out and hike, swim and explore, and it's a great day for meeting people and socialising.
Are the tours good for solo travellers?
Yes. They're made for solo travellers and backpackers. With small groups of up to 11, it's easy to meet people, and you'll spend the day with others who are travelling too.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your tour. Inside 24 hours we can't refund, but we'll try to move you to another day.
Can I do both tours?
Yes. Book either tour first and we'll email you a discount code for the second, so you get both for $149. They don't need to be on back-to-back days. Start with both tours.
Do you run private tours for groups?
Yes. We run private trips for hostel groups, birthdays and travel crews. Send us a group enquiry with your numbers and dates and we'll come back with a price.
On the day
Where is the pickup point?
In Surfers Paradise. Pickup is at 8:00am, and we email you the exact pickup spot after you book.
What time do the tours finish?
Both tours pick you up at 8:00am and drop you back in Surfers Paradise at 4:30pm.
How big are the groups?
Small. There are up to 11 guests on each tour, plus your guide.
Is food included?
No. Food and drinks aren't included, but you can buy them at every stop, including the morning coffee or morning tea stop and lunch. Eat your own breakfast before pickup. On the Outback tour you get a free billy tea at the campfire, and if you'd like a drink at the pub, bring ID.
How fit do I need to be?
You need to be comfortable walking on uneven rainforest tracks. On the Rainforest tour the Twin Falls and Purling Brook Falls walks take about 45 minutes each, and the Best of All Lookout and Natural Bridge walks are shorter. The Outback tour is more relaxed. Good walking shoes are essential on both.
Do I have to swim?
No, swimming is optional. If you'd like to swim, wear swimmers under your clothes and bring a towel.
What happens if it rains?
We run rain or shine, and the rainforest looks amazing in the rain. If we ever have to cancel for severe weather or safety, you'll get a full refund or a free move to another day.
What to bring
What should I bring?
Eat your own breakfast first, then bring a bag with a water bottle, swimmers, thongs (flip flops), a towel, a warm jacket, sunscreen, snacks and a hat. Good walking shoes are essential. Bring money for food and drinks.
Why do I need a warm jacket?
Springbrook and Tamborine Mountain sit up on the range and are usually cooler than the coast, especially in the morning.
About the tours
What's the difference between the Rainforest and Outback tours?
The Rainforest tour is a waterfall hiking day in Springbrook National Park: Twin Falls, Purling Brook Falls, the Best of All Lookout on the rim of an ancient volcano, and Natural Bridge. The Outback tour is an Aussie country day out: Canungra village, a private cattle farm with a crystal-clear creek, volleyball and a campfire, Tamborine Mountain, the hang glider lookout and a country pub.
Can I get to Springbrook National Park without a car?
There's no public transport to Springbrook National Park, and it's about an hour's drive from Surfers Paradise on steep, winding roads. Our Rainforest tour picks you up in Surfers Paradise and does the driving.
Where is Springbrook National Park?
In the Gold Coast hinterland, inland from Surfers Paradise near the New South Wales border. It's part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.
What is the Best of All Lookout?
A lookout on the rim of the ancient Tweed Volcano in Springbrook National Park. A short walk past ancient Antarctic beech trees takes you to views over the Tweed Valley to Wollumbin (Mount Warning).
Can you swim at Natural Bridge?
No. Swimming isn't allowed in the creek or the cave at Natural Bridge. On the Rainforest tour you swim under Twin Falls instead.
Where does the Outback tour go?
Around Canungra and Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland. The middle of the day is on a private cattle farm with a crystal-clear creek for swimming and floating.
